Crank Works Festival in Whistler, B.C.

Sep 20, 09:28 AM

Once again Crank works has totally raised the bar in all aspects of the downhill/freeride world. With people like Paul Bass and Zink throwing down it was a lot harder for Bearcloth to do his usual clean sweep, but none the less bear nuts was very impresive throwing down what was easly the sickest trick in the slopestyle comp. The racing was full throttle too. Cedric won the A-line race and Lopes won the Garbanzo downhill over Rennie, Peaty, Cedric, and the rest of the fast guys, then he went and won mountain cross! I think Peaty said it best: F#@kin Lopes.

For me, my weekend wasn’t quite as bitchin. For some reason I just couldn’t get it togeather. It all started out well and I nailed all my lines and then I ate it doing a flip and hit my head. That crash set me a little off the rest of the weekend. Basically unless you stomped a sick trick off every jump you didn’t stand a chance, those top five guys pretty much killed it and deserved to be up there. Big ups to all the guys who layed it on the line because it helps the sport so much in the big picture, things like more sponsors, bigger comps., more T.V. air time, and most of all more apeal to the fans, kids, and media. There were some narly crashes but no one got seriously hurt which was good.

All in all the event went well with an impresive spectator turn out, great sponsors, and a lot of healthy riders that were ready to go head to head in the biggest compeition of the season.
